Janam Announces Two New Rugged Mobile Computers

Janam's new XM66 and XM60+ deliver features designed for the front line and pricing that drives the bottom line

September 09, 2009

Janam Technologies LLC, a leading provider of rugged mobile computers that scan barcodes and communicate wirelessly, today announced two new XM Series rugged mobile computers: XM66 (with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1) and XM60+ (with Microsoft Windows CE 5.0).

With these two new Microsoft Windows devices, Janam is first to bring the powerful Freescale i.MX31 ARM11 processor and double data rate (DDR) memory to the rugged mobile computing space, resulting in computing performance that significantly outperforms the competition.

“As its name suggests, double data rate memory is twice as fast and power-efficient as conventional memory. We’re thrilled that Janam is first to migrate this leading cell phone technology to the rugged mobile computing space,” said Harry B. Lerner, CEO of Janam. “When you combine this winning feature with the fact that the XM Series are the only fully rugged mobile computers that offer a full 3.5” display at less than 10 ounces, we believe this product line has exactly the right features for the markets it serves.”

In addition to processor and memory advantages, the new XM Series products feature Summit’s embedded Wi-Fi® radio, providing unparalleled range, security, network performance and radio control. The new products’ CCX v4 certification further reduces cost, complexity and risk. The new XM Series also delivers Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (40x faster throughput than competitive devices), serial output, a user-accessible microSD card slot, more memory and increased battery capacity.

The XM66 and XM60+ are the industry’s most advanced rugged mobile computers, with an unprecedented combination of physical and technical features that support operational efficiency and bottom-line results within the four walls of the enterprise. These include:
- Only products in the rugged mobile computing category that weigh less than 10 ounces while offering a full 3.5” display
- Sculpted form factor that fits in the hand
- Withstands multiple 4’/1.2 meter drops to concrete, all sides, wide temperature range
- Powerful Adaptus™ imager
- Field upgradeable 2D barcode scanning
- WLAN 802.11 b/g and a/b/g radio options
- Cisco CCX v4 certification
- Ten-layer PCB with grounding planes
- User-accessible microSD card slot
- Sealed to IP54 standards
- Bluetooth
- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and serial output

Janam’s XM Series product line now consists of the XM66, XM60+ and XM65.

The new XM66 and XM60+ are fully compatible with Janam’s line of accessories, which support XM Series and XP Series mobile computers. By design, this approach allows customers to build on their existing technology investments.
