Automotive Giant Mobilizes Quality Control with Janam Rugged Mobile Computers

I & R Partners' mobile wireless gauging solution deployed at South American manufacturing plant

September 07, 2011

Janam Technologies LLC, a leading provider of rugged mobile computers that scan barcodes and communicate wirelessly, along with I & R Partners, a leader in data collection solutions for quality control and assembly in manufacturing environments, today announced that one of the world’s largest automotive companies is using Janam’s rugged mobile computers as an integral part of the I & R Partners’ GaugeFlex wireless data collection system at a major South American manufacturing facility.

The GaugeFlex system is a multi-module solution that helps manufacturing operations execute quality control, production control and/or inventory control more effectively.  The system enables workers to collect variable data using digital torque wrenches with a wireless transceiver, sending the data wirelessly to a mobile Janam XM60+.  From there, the data is transferred across the wireless network from the Janam XM60+ to the host PC.  Calipers, micrometers and any other digital or serial measurement instruments can be similarly used to gather important data.  The GaugeFlex real-time software enables workers to automatically analyze, track, research and chart the data; and enables plant operators to make immediate adjustments, address problems and prevent production lots from falling out of specification.

“Quality maintenance and waste reduction are essential in the automotive industry, so GaugeFlex quickly captures attention with its real-time, wireless data,” said Paul Iannello, CEO of I & R Partners.  “With the fully rugged Janam XM60+ and its processing speed, advanced barcode scanning, full-sized display, light weight and small size, we offer the winning combination.”  Added Iannello, “This customer will next deploy our GaugeFlex attribute analysis capability to collect visual defect data, taking advantage of the lightning-fast barcode scanning built into the XM60+ from Janam.”

“The ability to convert inspection data instantly to actionable information provides enormous benefits to the manufacturing enterprise,” said Harry B. Lerner, CEO of Janam.  “We are pleased to team with I & R Partners to enable manufacturing companies around the world to fully leverage those benefits by delivering the necessary information at the point of activity.”
